This article covers the problem Greece had of a decrease in tourism due to political and economic conflict. With diminished levels of tourism in Greece, many businesses were beginning to lose money. In order to lure tourists back to Greece, many tourism companies gave out large discounts so that potential tourists would be more inclined to travel to Greece. Due to these efforts, Greece is now receiving a large influx of tourism that is helping to improve Greece's struggling economy.
I find the decrease of tourism to be very worrying. Many countries around the world heavily rely on tourism to make profit. Although the amount of tourism was decreasing, tourism now increasing in Greece. It is good news that tourists are now once again visiting Greece in large quantities because it will help stimulate Greece declining economy and allow artifacts of the ancient Greeks to once again be viewed by people from around the world.
This article relates to a crucial issue for the country of Greece. Greek culture finds its roots in the Ancient Greeks, the people who created the Parthenon and the Temple of Apollo in Delphi. If these sites are no longer being seen by tourists, many people will not be able to experience the culture of ancient Greece and many people with occupations based on tourism, as many in Greece do, will lose business or lose their jobs. With Greeks out of jobs and less tourists visiting Greece, Greek culture and everyday life will be damaged and harder to maintain.
